New Security Tool at Rosa Parks Elementary

Dear Rosa Parks Parents/Guardians,

As many of you may have noticed, Rosa Parks has added a video monitoring system to the building. This newly installed equipment will allow office staff to identify individuals seeking access to the school before "buzzing them in." It may take an extra second or two to recognize parents and others with legitimate school business but the added margin of safety is more than worth the wait. You will still need to present your photo ID and check in at the office after entering the building. Everyone must present a photo ID in view of the camera system in order to enter the building.

Rosa Parks Elementary is one of several PWCS locations selected to receive the new grant-funded system based on specific building configurations. Please be assured this is only one of many mechanisms in place to ensure the safety of students, employees, and schools Division-wide.

As you are well aware, safety is our top priority. Please contact me if you have any questions. Meanwhile, thank you for your continued support of Rosa Parks Elementary.

Best regards,

Susan K. Danielson

Important information for current 5th grade students
The Tdap booster vaccine is required for sixth grade students before the start of school on September 2, 2014. Please give proof of this immunization to your school nurse once your child turns eleven. If your child has not received this immunization before the end of school in June, you will need to give the documentation to their middle school staff. Meeting this requirement as soon as possible will help your child have a smooth transition to middle school.

Unfortunately, no sixth grade student will receive their home room assignment until written verification of the Tdap immunization or a Doctor’s note for students with birthdays after September 2,2014 is received. These students will be excluded from school in September until this immunization requirement is satisfied. Please contact Mrs. Knepp, our School Nurse, if you have any questions.
